ROSEMARY

After years of backpacking and volunteering, leaving a place became routine. When I left Costa Rica to rehabilitate a barrel racing horse, I was excited to live with my little sister again.
At the time, I didn’t know I’d be working with a closed-off, grumpy horse owner. Attractive as well, but that's where his fine qualities end.
Our interest is the same: getting the horse back into the game, qualifying, and winning the championship. It wasn’t my plan to find interest in him; I’ve never had a real relationship, after all.
We grow into mutual longing for each other, with my departure date creeping close, and what I hadn’t anticipated were my feelings or the fact I’d miss him.

I hadn't returned to my hometown in a decade.
While I don't regret leaving, guilt still lingers. Now, I'm trying to reconnect with my brother in the life he built.
As I navigate my days, I deal with a stubborn woman who has been assigned to care for my horse without my knowledge. Quickly, working together became the only way I could build something with my brother.
As the days, weeks, and months pass, I grow to care for her and slowly begin to need her. She was never meant to stay, so I shouldn't be surprised when her departure draws near.
But after the wedding? There's no turning back. This is it.
